Roars and Random Tails

I have a stupidly large to-read list.

In an idle stretch today, I started compiling a list of books that I own and have yet to read.  I've been tracking this since I started posting capsule reviews to RPGnet last year, but I hadn't realized just how bad things had become.

Here's a breakdown:

• 36 books bought new.
• 71 books bought used or remaindered.  (I blame, in part, my discovery of used book fairs.  25 items on the list are ones I picked up at book fairs this year at $1 or 50 cents a throw.)
• 56 books acquired via Paperbackswap.com, which at least had the virtue of removing a book from the shelves at the same time.
• 6 books acquired as gifts.

So that adds up to 169 books.  At the reading rate I've kept up since the start of the year, which is not monomaniacal but isn't slow either, that's three solid years of reading.

Sad, silly, or sick?

Well, here it is, my first step into the blogosphere. 

Things that are likely to appear here as time goes by are likely to include:

• Reactions to media-ish things that I have read, watched, listened to, or otherwise encountered.
• Updates on the latest crises large or small to cross my path.
• Unsolicited rants about the world in general.

Who knows -- getting in the habit of putting words down may lead to some actual creativity showing up, too.

Hopefully this will have some use, at least to people who would otherwise have reason to know me, in comprehending where I'm at, at any given time.  Others who stumble across it, and have interest in the things that show up, are welcome as well.
